What you’ll find there…

Gorgeous shady woodland, great for cooling down in the summer! This wonderful nature reserve is lovingly managed and cared for. Its signposted trail meanders through woods and a meadow on an interesting route that’s surprisingly hilly in places. Once part of a private estate, known for producing timber and bricks, you can still see evidence of this today. There’s a large level meadow in the centre, and regulars tell us this is popular spot with dog walkers, as a safe place to play with their pets.

You’ll also discover the source of the River Blackwater, the start of a green corridor on the boundary between Surrey and Hampshire. The river links a number of our “Greenspace” entries including Lakeside Nature Reserve, Hawley Lake & Blackwater Park and Shepherd Meadows.

The signposted trail starts from behind the building next to the car park on Cranmore Lane. It’s unsurfaced and steep in places, but there’s also a surfaced, level trail from the opposite end of the reserve, from the entry point at the top of Parkland Grove GU9 9HA, with room to park one or two cars. Grid reference SU 85751 49572.
