Berkshire Nightjar Walk
29th July @ 9:15 pm - 10:30 pm
See and hear the elusive and enigmatic Nightjars of Snelsmore Common, near Newbury in Berkshire.
Join the BBOWT wardens for a late evening walk on Snelsmore Common to witness the strange and wonderful night time antics of the elusive and enigmatic Nightjar birds. As it gets dark the birds wake up and begin their courtship displays – churring, wing clapping and ‘gwipping’. We can’t guarantee that we will see/hear them but we stand a very good chance.
Open to all, but participants must be able to keep quiet so as not to disturb these birds. There will be a short (10-15 minute) walk from the carpark to the heath along concrete and gravel paths. Bring torches and binoculars. Please ensure that you park on the café/toilets side of the barrier to avoid getting locked in the car park.
