What you’ll find there…
Lovely Heather Farm is a welcoming place. Specifically designed to be dog-friendly, it features 25 hectares of attractive meadows and wetland areas along the River Bourne. Since officially opening to the public in January 2016, it has grown in popularity to become a sociable and friendly place to take a stroll or exercise your four-legged friend. In hot weather, the river is a real bonus, with the ford proving a much appreciated cooling off spot! And in less ideal conditions, there’s a dog-wash area for hosing down your muddy pooch! We’ve even noticed that the water from the dog-wash tap is slightly warm!
As you head out from the car park, look out over the Heather Farm Wetland area. The site of a former mushroom factory, it’s been carefully landscaped to create a heaven for wildlife.
And don’t leave without trying the goodies at the Water’s Edge Café. Dog-friendly and with toilet facilities. N.B. As of August 2018, the café is closed, but will be reopening soon. Check with Horsell Common Preservation Society for updates.
