Where you’ll find it…

Find a free car park at the end of Kennels Lane, Farnborough, nearest postcode GU14 0LL. Grid reference SU 84342 54506. What3Words: reduction.empty.spruced. There’s a further car park on Ively Road, nearest postcode GU14 0LJ (also height restriction 1.9m). Grid reference SU 85262 54919. What3Words: really.silent.shut.

N.B. We’ve given the nearest postcode, but recommend using the links to look up the exact location. The centre of a postcode may be up to half a mile from your destination.

What you’ll find there…

There are two sections to this attractive walk. Southwood Country Park (West), accessed from Kennels Lane, and Southwood Country Park (East) on the other side of Ively Road.

The western area has a fantastic selection of mature trees, lending a parkland feel to this former golf course. This area also has a great surfaced path around the whole route.

On the other side of the A327 Ively Road is a second area, Southwood Country Park (East), open to the public, including what used to be the golf club car park and club house. By including the west and east areas, walks of over 5km are possible (see route).

If you plan to link your walk with neighbouring Southwood Woodland, look out for the small sleeper bridge at What3Words: open.gravy.slim. There’re lots of variations possible, including linking Southwood Woodland and Hartland Country Park (see route).

Be sure to visit the café at Chalk in the Park and keep up to date with Rushmoor Borough Council’s plans here.

NOTE: There’s dog-proof fencing along the boundaries of Ively Road. As of December 2022 Esso pipeline works are still very much in progress. There is some disruption, but a pedestrian route is open for use.
